Lamor’s expertise utilised in Coast Guard’s exercise to prevent environmental incidents in the Gulf of Finland
In September, Lamor experts supported an exercise to prevent environmental incidents in the Gulf of Finland, organised by the Gulf of Finland Coast Guard District. The exercise off Porvoo was also attended by the European Maritime Safety Agency EMSA and the Estonian Navy.
The visit to Porvoo also included a tour of EMSA's Equipment Assistance Service stockpile, operated by Lamor. Four other centres are located across Europe, including the one in the Netherlands, which is operated by Lamor.
Henry Finni from Lamor, who participated as a trainer and technical expert, stresses that environmental emergency response is a collaborative effort: "Training maintains preparedness for an environmental incident response mission."
The exercise included the arrival and participation of a foreign response unit, the deployment of a technical response system, transfer to another vessel at sea and post-deployment activities.
Three vessels were used in the exercise: a patrol guard boat from the Helsinki Coast Guard Station, a multi-purpose vessel from the Estonian Navy and a patrol vessel from the Western Finland Coast Guard Station.
