Lamor and North West Maritime Limited successfully conducted an OPRC (IMO) Level 2 training course for Heritage Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago. The four-day training course took place at the Kapok Hotel, Restaurant, and Conference Center in Port of Spain and was attended by 26 emergency response personnel.

The course followed the International Maritime Organization (IMO) approved OPRC Level 2 Oil Spill Response curriculum. This course is designed for managers or supervisors who may lead or supervise oil spill response teams and those with responsibilities within an incident command or emergency team.

The objective was to prepare participants to effectively oversee response activities within an incident command organisation. Our delegates gained an understanding of safe and efficient responses to oil spill incidents, learned how to undertake an initial assessment of spill risk, initiate a response to an oil spill, identify sensitivities and prioritize for protection, choose the correct response strategies, identify the limitations of response options and equipment, and understand the needs and demands of the media.

Courses like this strengthen our relationship with customers and reinforce our capability to provide comprehensive solutions for oil spill response, waste management, remediation, and training needs. These courses are essential in ensuring that response teams are well-prepared for real-life emergencies, minimizing environmental impact and safeguarding our communities.
