Solid flotation boom
Solid Flotation Boom (SFB)
The Solid Flotation Boom is designed for rapid response of oil containment. This lightweight, deployable containment boom has high buoyancy to weight ratio and is suitable for a wide range of environmental scenarios including fast water rivers, harbors and even offshore. The Solid Flotation Boom is typically manufactured in PVC fabric in a wide variety of sizes each designed for the application ranging from 10” (254mm) to 48” (1.2m) in overall height.
Cost effective solution to initial containment response! Multi scenario use boom; from fast water rivers to offshore
How it works
The Solid Flotation Boom is comprised of the following key basic components; the fabric, flotation, tension member, ballast and end connectors.
The fabric is typically PVC; however other more durable fabrics such as Urethane or Elvaloy may be used and is available in a variety of colors.
The flotation is either solid or rolled polyethylene foam logs in a range of diameters depending upon the required application.
The tension member provides the strength of the containment boom and is located either within or just above the flotation pouch. Typical tension members are stainless steel or galvanized cable or duravet rope.
The ballast keeps the boom’s skirt vertical in the water column. The ballast is generally a galvanized chain ranging in diameter size depending upon the application.
Aluminum ASTM Z or Slide Type End Connectors are fastened to each end with stainless steel hardware including anchor eye and toggle pin with lanyard.
